Breathtaking views abound in this George Cobb designed course
High Meadows Golf course, designed by George Cobb in 1964 and set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina, is one of the most amazing courses in the Carolinas. George Cobb designed many outstanding courses in the south, including Par 3 at Augusta National, Sea Pines in Hilton Head, Hound Ears Club in Blowing Rock and many others! It has been said that “The courses he (Mr. Cobb) designed were not constructed to test the pros. They are simple designs and very playable, which is what everyone has said about High Meadows through the years.” And a member stated, “What a beautiful jewel of design in such a natural setting that speaks to the soul of the golfer.”
The High Meadows course has strategically placed bunkers, rolling hills and meandering streams and ponds that come into play around the course. Our impeccably groomed 18-hole course is player-friendly with 5 sets of tees. Elevation changes and breathtaking views make our course exciting each and every time it is played. Our signature 12th hole tee offers a spectacular view of the lake with the mountains of Southwest Virginia in the background; the 18th hole, a Par 5, challenges two lakes and is guarded by a deep bunker front and left of the green. Along with the course, other facilities include a driving range, putting green, practice sand bunker and chipping area.
High Meadows also hosts golf outings and programs for seniors, women, men, couples and an upbeat juniors program. Member involvement through the Men's and Ladies' golf associations along with other club sponsored play is what makes golfing at High Meadows so special.

Keep drive to left center of fairway. Be cautious of false front on left of green.
Straight away drive leaves slightly downhill second shot.
Keep drive left of center, balls to right can reach woodline. Second shot uphill can require extra club.
Favor right side of fairway to give bigger hitters better angle into green.
Downhill shot which can require one to two clubs less.
Straight away drive will leave a straightforward second shot, but do not go long.
Out of bounds to right off tee requires left center tee shot and be cautious if going for green in two as out of bounds is just right of green.
Use enough club to get past the false front.
If not trying to go for the green make sure to lay back to see geen surface.
Stay right off tee and short of the hole.
Severely uphill, may need up to two extra clubs from bottom tees.
Keep drive to the right side even into edge of rough as ball will kick left.
Drive needs to favor right center and carry to edge of falloff.
Lay up short of creek or gamble and carry creek which leaves wedge.
Best angle off tee is left center to help the angle into the elevated green. Can require an extra club up the hill.
Dogleg right which requires precise tee shot. Too short and you may be blocked by trees and to long you will find the rough which makes the lay up tough. Favor the left side on lay up.
You can see it all.
Drive straight away to crest of hill and then be careful as lakes left and right can effect your second shot.
